It's mid-winter as I write this, but I am creating with spring and summer in mind. I am remembering summers spent in the Maritimes and listening for the birds to return. I miss flowers and blue skies and sunshine. All of these elements will be present in my spring/summer collection. I've also been working with open access images from the Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met). The feature image of this post is collaged from a wood block printed book on colouring flowers, dating back to 1848. For now, I'm sharing a sneak peek of a bird collage below. This mixed media piece includes an image transfer from The Met, along with Japanese papers. The substrate or foundation is a piece of salvaged wood with a live edge, making this piece truly one of a kind.
I want to be improbable, beautiful and afraid of nothing,
as though I had wings.
