I heard that wee bird singing.

The cardinals stay in our backyard until January when they leave on a short (presumably) migration. They return the last week of February when its still more winter than spring. But, their songs are a sign that the days are getting longer and the snow will soon be gone.

Materials: 

A bright cardinal is collaged over rust-dyed vintage sheet music and Japanese papers.This piece also includes watercolours and acrylic paint. The substrate is truly unique with its rough edges and large knot hole.

In keeping with the salvaged wood substrate, the sides are unfinished, with bits of paper and paint drips visible. This collage will be best suited to stand on a shelf, mantle, table, piano...but a sawtooth hanger could be added to this piece if you wish to hang it. Signed on the back, this piece is finished with a matte varnish to ensure protection against fading, discolouration, and moisture. Avoid placing all artwork in direct sunlight.
