Lillian Nordica (La Nordica) was a famous opera singer who was born in rural Maine. I knew nothing about her when I pulled her image from an early 1900s magazine. She was a suffragist who worked to address the gendered wage disparity between singers, and she was an early environmental activist. There’s so much more to her fascinating story…

Along with Lady Nordica’s image, this assemblage features a fragment of a sewing pattern, the word delighted, scraps of blue silk, a piece of beach glass, and other assorted papers. The blue butterfly’s wings are raised, adding dimension to the other textures of this piece.

Each of my tins has its own rich patina magically forged in a campfire. The tins are best suited to displaying on a shelf, desk, countertop, piano, etc. As shown, this tin comes with a miniature easel for display.

Signed on the back, the interior of this piece is finished with a matte varnish to ensure protection against fading, discolouration, and moisture. Avoid placing all artwork in direct sunlight.
