libation bearers ~ mixed media, 5.5 X 7.5 inches
‘The libation bearers’ is the title of a chapter in one of my vintage texts that's been salvaged for art. Fearing disappointment (as it is a history book!), I have not read the actual chapter. I suspect it’s not all about mixing the perfect gin & tonic. The libation bearers really are the very best people though, aren’t they?
Materials: The back of a worn, red history textbook is the substrate for this piece. If you look closely, you will see that there are three hearts in this collage. A mid layer features a bird and roses, as well as the word 'heart.'
This piece could be propped up on a shelf, supported by a rock or a seashell. It could also be set on a mini easel ~ many styles are readily available at craft stores for under $15. Or, it could be framed. Some slight warping is present as the substrate is a vintage book. All art should be kept out of direct sunlight.
