i'll fly away ~ spiral notebook

This piece is about finding the freedom to fly. My intent with this painting was to capture some of the wistfulness of good-byes. When I pause to reflect, I realize that it is truly quite amazing that mother birds, who are small themselves, encourage their even littler ones to leave. It takes strength both to let go and to fly. The original mixed media painting began with Japanese papers. The bird is composed of paper printed with cranes.
